I had seen photos of the Blue Puya on the Christchurch Botanic Garden’s Facebook page. What a striking an unusual plant – so I had to check it out for myself. I was just going to photograph the plant but as often happens when I have a camera, a wax eye and its fledgeling started landing on the plant.

Interesting plant the Blue Puya is — especially the flowers! Love the seemingly obligatory Wax Eye contributions to these photos too.

I note that wax-eyes/white-eyes/silver-eyes , as they are variously called , are busy pollinating ny feijoa trees these days .
