Five years ago today, Christchurch and a lot of Canterbury was awoken to whole lot of earthquake. It was the start of a sequence of earthquakes that have exacted a huge toll on our city and its people. Today we remembered that day with a dawn service at New Brighton. It was quite dark on the beach, so they lit small fires to show people the way.
