A daily photo from Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand
Five years ago today, Christchurch and a lot of Canterbury was awoken to whole lot of earthquake. It was the start of a sequence of earthquakes that have exacted a huge toll on our city and its people. Today we remembered that day with a dawn service at New Brighton. You can read about my personal experience of that day at my blog post.
It was quite dark on the beach, so they lit small fires to show people the way.
A fitting way to remember. It certainly made the news here in a big way.
