The Peace Train is a small but cheerful addition to the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. Brightly coloured and quietly electric, it carries children and families along the pathways beside the Ōtākaro Avon River on Sunday afternoons.
The train was gifted to the people of Christchurch by the Yusuf Islam Foundation – founded by musician Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) – in recognition of the compassion shown by the city after the 2019 mosque attacks.
