A daily photo from Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand

Looking closely I can see some interesting history in that tree’s growth. It appears it may have had its top pruned off at an early stage and new spouts that came up from the base of the truck were wrapped around it as they grew together again into a single trunk, and once out of reach the tree was allowed to take its own course from there. I did this to a flowering bush once to turn it into a flowering tree by pruning away all but one sprout, allowing it to grow tall. Then I allowed a few of the spouts to grow to the point I could start wrapping and tying them with string around the original one sprout that had become much larger by then until I couldn’t reach any higher, and now it’s a flowering tree, not very tall but with a broad canopy with plenty of room under it.
