While at the Christchurch Art Show at Te Pae today, I thought the views with the reflections were really interesting. The art was also interesting and of a really high standard. It was very tempting! We ended up coming home with a stunning astrophotography photo from Mike White photographer.

Interesting! Those photos you captured inside Te Pae Convention Centre look a bit like mid-century modern crossed with some degree of minimalism. I also explored Mike White’s website and found some of his photos, my favourites being ‘Heavenly Crosses’ and ‘Jupiter Rising’. As for ‘Jupiter Rising’, this astrophoto looks as though it may have been captured in the south of Banks Peninsula from one of those remote bays east of Birdlings Flat somewhere near Akaroa Head.

Yes there’s very much a mid-century vibe. And yes, that’s a very popular astro photography spot. I imagine astro photographers are like anglers, they’re not always going to reveal their favourite spots!
