We went for a walk through Hagley Park to the Botanic Gardens today, and this spot by the Avon River and opposite Christs College was looking particularly verdant. It was a lovely day with a lot of people out enjoying the gardens.
As it’s a New Year, I decided my resolution would be to start blogging again, so here’s day one! I can’t promise I will stick with it, but enough time has passed since I was last blogging that there is a lot of new things to photo and write about.
Why the long break? Well, a few reasons, and I might write about them in a longer blog post. Some of it was a bit of disillusionment with the city’s recovery (a lot of it is good, but a lot of it has made me very frustrated), some of it was the feeling that I had photographed everything, I kind of lost my ‘photo mojo’ (worsening eye sight hasn’t helped) and I just didn’t want to take photos (except of my cat and flowers in my garden). And I think we can all agree the last few years in general have been somewhat challenging and draining for everyone.
Good luck for 2024, may it bring you all happiness and peace. And I’ll endeavour to bring you a piece of Christchurch – something I know many people loved seeing.
