There’s only a few week’s left to enjoy the container mall (previously the ReStart Mall) in the city – it will be disassembled to make way for the construction of the Riverside Farmers Market.
Visiting the containers and grabbing a bite to eat from one of the food caravans has been a fairly regular occurrence for me. And I will miss it. But all good things come to an end – and I’m looking forward to seeing Riverside Farmers Market take shape here (it’s expected to be completed late this year). According to this Press article:
Riverside Market, expected to be completed by November, will house an indoor daily farmers market, an international food hall, eating and drinking places, fashion shops and offices.

Great pity – the Restart Container Mall was a great asset to Christchurch and I’d like it to have stayed as a permanent feature. It was a great place to people watch, have a coffee or snack, and the little shops were fun and interesting.

It would be awesome if it could have been a permanent thing – but guess people need to get the most out of their land investments 🙂
