I’ve always admired the architecture of these older substations. Many of Christchurch’s older substations are very decorative and must have been well built to survive the quakes.

    This one has character. Many of the more recent such structures here are strictly utilitarian, but every once in awhile you see a hydro station like this that dates back decades and really looks distinctive.

    Hi William, we’ve got a few of the utilitarian ones as well – and they seem to be much smaller than they used to need them! I like the old ones much better.
