I was invited along to the Isaac Theatre Royal this evening, to take some photos of the local boy’s choir before they had their dress rehearsal. They will be part of the chorus for the NZ Opera Christchurch production of Carmen. I’ve not seen the opera myself yet, but I was told the boys mimic the soldiers in the opera.
Best of luck to the boys for their performance. From what I saw they are very professional and talented young singers.
Carmen is on at the Isaac Theatre Royal from Thursday 13 July to Saturday 22 July.

Did you know that Paul Henry’s grandmother was a gypsy? If this opera wasn’t written in 1875, he might have had a really tall tale to tell — perhaps good enough for another opera 😉 Anyway, humour aside, the story line of Carmen seems to be quite a classic!

Something of an updated setting for the opera, it would seem.
