The Christchurch Justice and Emergency Services Precinct is really coming along now with some decorative glass going up recently along the side of the building.
This initiative makes me feel that Christchurch will be one of the safer cities to live in within New Zealand (in fact it probably already is that due to the rebuild) – and when the Alpine Fault eventually goes Christchurch will be in an excellent position to provide support to its own citizens while also responding to emergencies in other parts of the South Island (most likely the West Coast). There’s been several articles recently about the risks of the Alpine Fault going – see http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/90364889/magnitude82-the-disaster-scenario-on-new-zealands-most-dangerous-fault for an example.
Here’s a video fly-over from the official website:
One response to “Christchurch Justice and Emergency Services Precinct”
It looks well designed.
