For the last two days there have been fires raging in the port hills – with flames visible from the city. From up the top of the Gondola I could see the aerial fire-fighting efforts of the incredible pilots flying the planes and the helicopters dousing the flames. They are such brave people who tirelessly serve others in a dangerous situation. Tragically, one of the helicopters crashed and the pilot did not survive. Thinking of the family today who have lost their loved one. Such a terrible loss.
Thank you to all of the amazing fire fighters who are working so hard to protect everyone – they are true heros.

I’ve met a fellow blogger here in Canada whose son died on a forest fire mission as a pilot. It’s a tough job, but so needed. I hope this comes under control quickly.
