This morning it was very still and I noticed the clouds were reflecting in the water of the Heathcote River (near where it turns into the estuary). So I grabbed my camera and went for a walk to find the best vantage point. The first photo was taken on Bridle Path Road and is I think my favourite. We don’t see it like this very often, but when we do it is rather stunning. It was a beautiful morning to be out for a walk too – calm and not too hot.

Magical photos – the second one brings to mind a watercolor painting. The color is inviting. It feels like I’m looking into the landscape, not just at it.

It was quite a surreal view that morning – so still with the reflections that it even looked like a painting in real life. I’ve had someone suggest I’d done some Photoshop processing, but other than correcting exposure there’s been no Photoshop magic involved – just magical nature.

    Hi Michelle,
just a big “thank you” for sharing “your” Christchurch with me for all this time. I’ve been following you since before the 2010 earthquake (my husband alternates between mainzdailyphoto.com and notthenelsondailyphoto.com and was on the 47 Aircrew course at Wigram a lifetime ago, so he knows Christchurch a bit) and when we visited a few weeks ago, I kept saying “Oh, THIS is where that photo was taken” and ” I’ve seen this giraffe before”and “ReStart is so cool, but of course I’ve been here before…”. Almost like coming home.
    Thanks again.

So nice to hear from you! You must have been walking through the city having some serious deja vu moments!
