I’d heard about the Spark Park (Spark is our previously named NZ Telecom). But I hadn’t noticed the park in my walks around the city – I’d also obviously not gone look for it. Well, I finally saw it, and I’ve got to say my reaction was ‘underwhelmed’ – it’s entirely covered in concrete with concrete boxed seating. I’ve only photographed the most interesting part – the mural. It does indeed however have free wifi. See http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/10600226/Spark-yet-to-arrive-at-new-city-park for more info and a wide shot of the park.

    A very unusual park.

I’m sure people are missing the old Telecom Christmas tree that once adorned Latimer Square too as back in the days before Spark this was quite a highlight for this time of year.
