The Centennial Pool demolition is in progress. From what I understand, the pool was not economic to repair due to earthquake damage. The land the pool is on will become a new and very large and innovative Children’s Playground – to be named in honour of the children’s author Margaret Mahy

I certainly hope another earthquake doesn’t happen but at least a playground for the kids will be well used.
