A daily photo from Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand
The Cardboard Cathedral was open to the public this week, so I took a look at it at noon today and then went back again a little later when the sun had come out. It’s a lovely space, it feels very inviting and the minimal design is very peaceful. I really like it and it is a fascinating subject to photograph with all of its triangles.
Cardboard??? Is it a permanent structure??? How will it stand up to the elements?

The original cardboard concept by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban had been altered so the cardboard is covering wood and steel beams now. Don’t worry, the cardboard is covered and sealed and this is a transitional structure built to last up to 50 years. Hope this info helps.
