The Cathedral Square has re-opened to the public and a project called the The Transitional Cathedral Square, has seen artworks from Chris Heaphy and Sara Hughes displayed in the square.

It was another lovely sunny day in Christchurch and people were out in force to check out the artworks in the square. Even some of the square speakers were back.

The Cathedral is visible through a viewing panel in the fence.

It’s so good to see some life finally coming back into Cathedral Square again.

Just curious if they are still planning to reduce the Cathedral to a 3 metre remaining height, or if plans had changed? Personally I think that framing the weak and damaged sections with steel covered with a facade to match the rest of the structure might not be a bad start for saving the building.
