Castle Rock

This is what’s left of Castle Rock after thousands of earthquakes. The track that is downhill from it is the Bridle Path and it is still closed due to the obvious rockfall hazard.

In case you’re wondering… I took these photos from the relative safety of Port Hills Road – using my 300mm zoom lens, I’m not crazy enough to go anywhere near this part of the Port Hills. Rocky outcrops make me very nervous these days.

Your castle rock is cooler than our Castle Rock, Colorado (named after a castle rock). You can see photos of their rock on the town website: http://www.crgov.com/index.aspx?nid=685
