I spotted these colourful buildings at the end of Connal Street in Woolston. I’m not sure which street they actually front on to. They really grabbed my attention as it’s so rare to see any building painted like this in New Zealand. We are kind of conservative like that and it’s one of the big things I noticed when I toured around Ireland – they were not afraid of colour. I really don’t think we have any excuse for being boring with our building colours (guess that old chestnut of ‘resale value’ is what stops most people). So come on Christchurch building owners, get creative! We need brightening up after all we’ve been through.

Just loved the doors of Dublin – so colourful!
Perhaps colourful front doors could be a start for Chch???
