Watching St Elmos apartments coming down.
Yesterday I realised that from the gardens I was able to walk two blocks up to Durham Street, so took the opportunity to take some photos and see for myself what this part of the CBD is like. It was not as bad as I was expecting which is a relief, but then there is that great unknown of what the rest of the CBD is like past the cordon. Seeing photos is one thing, but until you walk the streets you don’t really get a true feeling for how things have changed, so I am not looking forward to being able to see the rest of the CBD. I was surprised at how many people were walking around this area or cycling it – not a lot but more than I expected. I talked to a few of them and found out about there experiences and narrow escapes, and they were feeling the same as me – they just had to come and have a look.
More photos from my walk (which was from the gardens, down Worcester street, into Durham and then down Hereford and back to the gardens.
