Arthur’s Pass is a small settlement on the way to the West Coast of the South Island. If you ever stop there, don’t leave your car unattended (unless you have good insurance!). The keas are curious and can not resist pulling things off cars, especially shiny things.
This particular Kea (along with his mates below) was trying its best to pull apart a kayak.
Loved our stay at Arthurs Pass when we visited from the UK. The ‘Wobbley Kia’ cafe is fantastic. Is it still there?

The Wobbley Kea is still there – in fact I had lunch there before walking up to the falls (and probably ate too much – those steps to the falls are a killer).
