Hagley Park

hagley-park

Here’s another shot with my mobile phone, of Hagley Park, the major inner city park that Christchurch is very well known for (the Avon River is just to the right).  It’s a special spot this park, and I really make the most of it. Most nights there are lots of joggers and walkers and cyclists (including the one I thought came a bit close to running me over!). Most people walk the perimeter of the park which has either pebble paths or ashphalt. In the middle of the park are playing fields. The park gets a lot of use during the summer as a venue for outdoor events. This photo was taken about 7.3opm, and it was very pleasant, with a beautiful light. I kept thinking “I wish I had my SLR with me”, but then if I had I would have  ambled around for hours and not gotten any effective exercise. So the mobile is a good compromise – I get my exercise, but I also can get a semi decent shot.

Hagley Park and Cornwall Park, in Auckland, are both fine tributes to our city forefathers who had such vision to plan ahead. Just love the soft lighting and lushness of this shot.

The phone is a Samsung and it has a 1.3mp camera. I was quite surprised at how good the pics are.
