A daily photo from Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand
The koru is the name the Maori give to the unfurling fern frond. It is a symbol of life, growth, strength and peace. It’s commonly used in Maori carvings and tattoos. This fern frond was photographed in one of my favourite spots in the Botanic Gardens – a native garden walk.
What a coincidence! In Finnish ‘koru’ means a jewell or an ornament! This photo says it all!
