A vintage metal drinking fountain situated on a grassy area, surrounded by shrubs and trees in a park setting.

It has been a hot one today, so I was grateful for this drinking fountain by the Avon River not far from New Regent Street. I’m not sure of its vintage or history, but the base looks vintage to me. Either way it was lovely water.

Now when you drink your local Christchurch water (or any municipal water anywhere), spare a thought for the people working shifts to make sure your water gets to where it’s supposed to be! I know that in Christchurch, they are rostered on in 12-hour shifts and they do crazy hours – working Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in rotation.
