A street performer in a leather jacket and hat juggles while entertaining a crowd gathered in a city square. Spectators, including children, watch intently.

The World Buskers Festival is back for another year – https://www.worldbuskersfestival.co.nz/ so I went along to catch Mario’s act. This is his eighth appearance at the festival and he’s as funny and entertaining as ever.

The spirit and magic of the buskers festival is also back. For a while there I felt the festival had lost it’s way and the focus had moved from street performers to paid indoor events. I also found the name change to Bread & Circus somewhat confusing.

So if like me, you’d been giving the festival a ‘bit of a miss’ as it wasn’t what you’d grown to love anymore, come back into town and throw some money into the hats of these amazing performers.
