Rewi Alley Bust

Rewi Alley, dedicated his life to fostering China-New Zealand relations, and is honoured with a striking sculpture in Christchurch. Unveiled in May 2024, the sculpture was gifted by the China Foundation for Peace and Development and crafted by renowned Chinese artist Yuan Xikun. Located at The Arts Centre, the statue commemorates Alley’s immense contributions to China’s industrial development and cultural diplomacy. This tribute stands as a symbol of the enduring friendship between Christchurch and China, reflecting Alley’s legacy of international cooperation and cultural exchange.
