One response to “Day of the Dead Elmer”

It seems a number of artists participating in #ElmerChristchurch may be getting some of their inspirations (but on a much grader scale) from the much smaller brightly painted terracotta figurines that have been made in Mexico as a type of folk art, or it seems that way as I can see the resemblances in many ways, and this one even by its name. After re-reading on their website I was glad to see this event is also going to charity and these ‘Elmers’ will be auctioned off afterwards as well. Personally, I think many of these ‘Elmers’ would make great colourful art statements as focal points in peoples’ gardens, plus they would all have a wonderful provenance too.
