Te Kaha is rising from the ground and looking very much like a stadium. It takes up an entire block on Madras Street. According to the Christchurch City Council website the stadium:
“is estimated to be completed by mid-2026”.

Looks huge! Just had a though. Are there carparks nearby (or planned to be built) for such things as being able to handle, say, a full capacity (30,000 seats) stadium music concert venue? Also I love the last photo too as it show Sugarloaf (a great reference point and landmark) in the distant background as it gives me a way to know which way your camera was aimed (N E W S). Hmm… speaking of news, as for the media there should be a publicly accessible tower cam up there for people to view the local weather over long distances. I think that would be really cool for a local TV station to have on hand.

I actually took the photos from an eight-story car park that is directly opposite. There are a couple of other multi story car parks nearby too, but I doubt they’d fit everyone coming to the stadium. There looked to be a camera on level 7 as well – not sure what it was for, but with other projects they’ve done time lapse photography.
