Sumner Road links Lyttelton and Sumner. It has been closed since our the February 22nd 2011 earthquake left it unusable due to rock fall damage. While in Sumner today, I looked at the video they had playing in the library about the rebuild of the road.

My reaction when I saw the drone flyover of the damage to the road was ‘wow, I’d be tempted to just walk away from it completely.’ So getting this road open has been an amazing feat of engineering and hard work. Luckily for Christchurch I’m not a roading engineer!
