A daily photo from Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand
I had to Google ‘sphere shaped fungus’ to find out what this was. A friend of mine noticed it as we were walking near the Avon River by Durham Street. There are quite a few of them growing on the banks of the river. They are found in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa according to this Wikipedia article. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ileodictyon_cibarium
Quite strange to my eyes.
