I learned recently, that back in the day when there were bars by the river on Oxford Terrace, drunk people were prone to falling into the river. So in response, they put up this fence. I had also never noticed that there are names on the posts – which I also found out are the names of the foundries where the posts were forged.
It would be very easy to overlook the lettering.
