This is a building that was rebuilt after our earthquakes and before the redevelopment plans for the central city were developed. Unfortunately, the building was now in the wrong place and needed to be back into the street by 9 metres as Manchester Street will be redeveloped. It was not cost effective to move the building, so it had to come down (the building owner was paid out for it). So weird seeing it come down today…
