These crosses in Cranmer Square are part of the Fields of Remembrance project to remember the sacrifice New Zealand men and women made during the First World War. Each cross has the name of a New Zealander from the Canterbury region who lost their life in the war during 2015. There are also fields of crosses in Auckland, Dunedin and Wellington.

To have dressed each cross with a red poppy is a beautiful idea.
