A life-sized mechanical Santa Claus figure wearing a red suit and black boots, with a white beard and a nodding head, displayed in an antique shop.

I had a look around Portobello antiques today (they have a shop at The Tannery), and I was captivated by this life-sized Santa. I was told he was actually a mechanical santa (his head will nod).

Here’s a few other snaps I took.

As you can see it’s a treasure trove!

The caged bird sings – if you pay it by dropping a New Zealand penny into the slot!

From what I can see here, Portobello Antiques is a treasure trove indeed! I could spend hours in a place such as this as I love antiques. I couldn’t help but to notice the primitive antique stepback cupboard located behind the singing caged bird as something (perhaps a little bird?) tells me it wont be there for long if the price is right …and the antique wooden rocking chair too!
