A collage showcasing the Iris Gardens in Motukarara, featuring a blue garden bench, a purple Iris flower, a cherub statue, a tranquil pond with greenery, a rustic garden shed, a dog peeking from underneath a table, and a woman singing with a tea set and scones on the table.

Today, I had the pleasure of discovering the Iris Gardens in Motukarara (an Iris nursery). I had never heard of it before, so was delighted at what I discovered. It is a tranquil and beautiful location with landscaped gardens, adorable dogs (Sweetpea is the dog featured in the picture) ponds and water features, and of course the Iris flowers which are now in season. It is truly a photographer’s dream location and it was a very pleasant and peaceful place to spend the morning.

While there, I also sampled the delicious scones as part of the Devonshire tea (they are really good scones but the recipe is a trade secret!). My friends and I really enjoyed our time here with the hosts being so welcoming. We also particularly enjoyed the live music by the talented Angela Tainui – who can also be found singing at the Shabby Chic market (she also does weddings) – you can learn more about Angela at her Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/angela.tainui.singer.

The Devonshire teas is a limited season – between 12th October and 23rd November.

You can bet I’ll be back again before the season finishes – I have to see the roses!
