Today is the 4th anniversary of the first big earthquake to strike Christchurch. Rather than focusing on the earthquake and the city that now is, I had a quiet day at home working and took some snaps of my Osteospermum flowers. We have a difficult bit of garden strip that is steep, dry and prone to killing most plants. Osteospermum however (also know as the African Daisy) thrives – and so I’ve learned to give up the battle for a cottage garden and embrace what will actually grow in our Mt Pleasant clay soils.

So I’d recommend the Osteospermum to anyone needed to fill up a gap – they spread very quickly and are very attractive. If you live in the hills you’ll probably see theme every where like I did after I started planting them!
