This Sumner house was once a happy family home but now it sits empty and the family wait and wait  for a final insurance decision. This is happening a lot in Christchurch today (thanks to our series of earthquakes) and it’s not uncommon to see signs, banners and even spray painted protest messages on houses.

This house has been classified as not “safe” (1:5000 chance per year of dying due to boulder fall) until 2032. So the family haven’t lived in it since the 24th of Feb 2011.

Let’s hope that 2014 will see an end to dragging out final decisions and people can finally get some closure.
