Today was a beautiful sunny and very warm Canterbury day – perfect weather for the annual Culverden Christmas Country Fete.
The Fete has become somewhat of a tradition for many Cantabrians – a great day out of shopping, food and entertainment. Culverden is a lovely little country town in the Hurunui district and about an hour’s drive north of Christchurch. It’s well worth a visit just for the town as it has some lovely eateries and cute shops.
There was some delicious food for sale for lunch and to take home. My lunch (above) was a whitebait pattie sandwich and a glass of Pimms (which it appears to be compulsory to drink when at the Fete). It was a thoroughly pleasant day out and I came home with a lot of goodies.
I loved these chickens! But one problem with the Fete is that if you go with a fixed budget, you can blow it before you have seen everything. So I didn’t come home with any chickens.
I did however still have enough cash to indulge in one of these amazing and delicious lemon-infused lemon cup cakes from Toni Hannah of The Traditional Cupcake Company.
