If you have driven North down Fitzgerald Avenue lately, you may well have seen this sign. It made me laugh the first time I saw it. The reason for the sign is that for a long time, Fitzgerald Avenue has been quite a bumpy ride with lots of road works blocking off lanes as they fixed the damage due to the earthquakes.

Fitzgerald Avenue – So Smooth Now
 As you can see from the photo above, this section is now all lovely and smooth and there is also  wonderful wide footpath / bike lane running alongside the road.

Yes, getting excited about smooth roads and extra wide and fancy footpaths is part of the course of living in Christchurch!

    That is a sign with a difference. We are having pot holes everywhere now after this cold winter.
