It’s All Right

These posters have gone up all around the city. They are part of a social media campaign to raise awareness about the mental health and well-being of Cantabrians due to the difficult times we have been through due to the earthquakes and the frustrations that we experience even now 2 years later.

If you think you could do with some help, please don’t be too proud or embarrassed to ask for it or think that you should just ‘get over it’. Even the most stoic of people have had their moments over the last two years. For more information see http://www.msd.govt.nz/emergency/chch-earthquakes-support-assistance.html – there is even free counselling available.

what a great attitude you have – my neighbours are just back from visiting their daughter in Christchurch – they were heartbroken about the cathedral and its environs but had a lovely time in Hanmer.

I think this campaign is obvious, and there has to be much more of an outreach attitude. The gap between those leading a normal life and feeling stresses, and those growing worse is getting larger. There is a growing minority of frustration, outbursts, misery, loneliness, outright spite, anger and volatile violence all part of every day and getting worse for two years.
