What looks to be a Heron wading along the Heathcote River

I’m fortunate in having a wonderful view that looks over the Heathcote River, down into Heathcote Valley, over up to the Port Hills, west toward the city and even further west I can see our mountains. It’s an ever changing view, but when we get a warm wind blowing (our nor’wester) I can usually be guaranteed a lovely sunset view. Here’s what I could see from my deck tonight.

View of the ever shrinking city skyline

The skyline keeps changing on me due to all of the tall buildings that have had to come down.

You’re definitely fortunate to have a place with such grand sunset views indeed! I love these shots! I can imagine there’s been a few times just after sunrise when the waning almost full moon still sits above the horizon on one of those rare clear mornings as well. You may want to mark your calendar for two days after the full moon each month for a quick early morning peek in hopes of capturing an awesome moon shot some lucky morning too 🙂
