Yesterday, I had the privilege to walk around the Oamaru Public Gardens in their full spring splendour. I was passing through Oamaru on my way further south, but decided to stop and see what the gardens were like during Spring. I ended up spending an hour in the gardens as I was so transfixed by the beauty of the blossoms by the water and the wonderful spaces they have created. It really is a special place and a photographer’s dream location.

When I walked up to this pond I nearly gulped I was so surprised at what I was seeing. The person or persons who designed this garden really knew how to get full effect from the water. Such a lovely space.

Red flowers (think they were camellias) carpet the grassed walkway by the blossom trees. Just a superb experience.

As you can see, the gardens are quite lovely and if you are passing through Oamaru I highly recommend you stop and take a look for yourself (they are at the bottom of the hill on the main high way just before you leave Oamaru).
