A changing cityscape

The city from Mt Pleasant – missing one Hotel Grand Chancellor – click for a larger view

Here’s another shot from my partner Bruce – taken tonight from our balcony. I was cooking and packing (I’m off on another trip) so sent him out with my camera for today’s shot. He didn’t realise he’d captured the plane in the photo until he saw it on screen.

The most telling thing about this image is the absence of the Hotel Grand Chancellor – we’ve been watching it gradually disappear from the cityscape for months now. If you want a comparison photo have a look at this one that I shot back in December 2010 from the same spot.

I’m out of Christchurch again until next Monday, so Katherine will be back posting for me and looking after Facebook page.
