For quite sometime now I have been trying to attract birds to the garden using a bird feeder. It’s been an unmitigated disaster. In the 6 months I’ve had it I have never once seen a bird at the feeder. But the seed was gone. We don’t have any shortage of bird life around here – in fact the dusk chorus can be deafening at times! But for the life of me I had never seen a bird eat anything I had put out for it. Well, I finally cracked it. And now I guess they’ll come looking for more each day. I wouldn’t mind a bit – I seem to have developed a love for birds thanks to this blog. I noticed my neighbour had waxeyes darting in and out of his place so had a closer look at what he had put out and discovered it was apple. So out came the apple and they went nuts over it. A friend also mentioned that her birds went crazy for bread with a bit of honey on it. So they got some of that too. Sure enough, they also went nuts for the bread and honey! So I am hooked. Now I just have to figure out how to get them to feed from the feeder (cos it’s really cute).

Even the birds are over the snow!
