There used to be a cafe on this spot – the Volcano – a Lyttelton institution. And now there is just this vacant lot.
However, Lyttelton is getting back onto its feet – I was there today and the produce market was busy and a number of cafes have re-opened and I’m happy to say they were being very well patronised. A draft re-development proposal for the port area is also on the cards and it looks very promising – with a marina and green areas. It would be fantastic to have an area like.
