I took this photo this afternoon at the cordon that surrounds Latimer Square which blocks off the CBD. I walked up from Worcester Street and poked my camera through the holes of the cordon. The thing that struck me the most was the sound of the demolitions in progress. I was also surprised at the amount of damage sustained to some of the houses closest to the park. There was an obvious police presence with a car full of cops cruising back and forth. There were a few other people about including a family with their kids (the new family outing), but after they all left it struck me that I was on the edge of no man’s land and didn’t feel like hanging around.

The Madras Street corner.
