This interesting piece of old advertising has been revealed due to the earthquake – the bricks (which were probably a fire wall) were hiding this treasure of advertising for a wigmaker. Looks like ladies could sell their hair and get paid by the ounce. I’d love to see the rest of the timber exposed, and if the building had to come down it be great to salvage this piece of history.

    Theses old adverts are much less common now than they were when I was a youth. There are still a few here in Leeds but not many. I too would be interested in the date, not much call for wigs today.
