Messages of Hope

Messages left on the barricade that surrounds what was the Carlton Hotel on Bealey Avenue. The Carlton was pulled down after concerns that it would collapse if we had another strong aftershock (for more info read the TVNZ news item). The Carlton was over 100 years old, I didn’t frequent it, but I do remember a few nights there in the 90’s. I’m sad to say I’ve never featured the hotel on this blog before and can’t recall if I have ever photographed it. I guess it will be just one of the many landmarks I’ve not snapped. I’m pleased though that there are many buildings and landmarks and entire street scenes that I have captured that will no longer be with us.

I’m not really feeling the after shocks now, and for that I am very grateful!
