Colombo Street at the Sydenham shops has only just been re-opened to the public, so I took a look for myself at how it has radically changed. A whole block of old character buildings has disappeared. It has given me some sense of what it might be like when we can finally see the CBD. As I was walking along the street I came across this very large bear that someone has placed in a hole in the footpath. Bruce’s theory is that one of the demolition guys has left it there. Perhaps they found it after demolishing a building and carefully placed him on his spot.

What is now a vacant lot – the section of Colombo street opposite NZ Post near Wordsworth Street.
