Someone has made a smiley face from the liquefaction left along Ferry Road (Ferrymead end) by the Mud House cafe. A bright spot after the terrible news coming out of Japan.
Today, I very much feel a kinship with the people of Japan after their powerful earthquake. We watched the live TV coverage last night in a state of shock and disbelief – how could this be happening? It is incredible the amount of devastation they have suffered and loss of life, and my heart goes out to those who have been affected by this terrible disaster. It was incredibly moving to see the Japanese rescue teams who’ve been here in Christchurch solemnly boarding a bus to catch a plane back home. They have been here to help us, they will be exhausted and emotionally drained after what they will have seen here in Christchurch, and now they have to go home to an unbelievably awful and enormous task. Please stay safe and may all your loved ones be safe too.
